Art Shopping Paris 2019

Art Shopping Paris 2019

So, this really happened! I made it to Paris with my pictures! This wild idea became reality.

I had been to Paris twice in my teenage years but had forgotten how truly beautiful this city is! I arrived with the TGV train, took the metro and when I took the steps out of the underground, the first thing I saw was the grand Opéra Garnier and this incredible boulevard. I was blown away right from the start. I forgot my worries about all the difficulties I had about transporting my pictures to France. I enjoyed just being there…

The “Art shopping” Expo”  took place Friday to Sunday (24th May – 26th of May 2019) and I was there for almost a week so I was not exactly on a tight schedule. I had some time for taking pictures, visiting Pere Lachaise, Montmartre and Notre Dame. Also, I went down to the Louvre for a sneak peak where the exhibition would take place. And oh my, the Louvre is immensely huge! The whole building and area are so wide, you could spend days exploring everything there! The Art Fair, of course, would be at the Carrousel du Louvre, in the underground, pretty much where the famous big glass pyramid delves into the ground.

I had another free morning right before setting up the exhibition so I said hello the big iron giant. Sure, it’s a cheesy touristy thing to do and I had no intention of going up so I just took a stroll in the park. Yet, the Eiffel tower is quite impressive in real life – the sheer size of it and the magic of the details.

Due to the kindness of strangers, the exhibition went well. I hardly speak any French at all and the French often don’t speak any English. So communication was definitely flawed. And yet, I had the most amazing time there. Someone lend me their electric drill so I could give up hammering my nails ineffectually into the wooden walls. My booth neighbor Lucie Schrimpf with her bright and lively paintings made an excellent contrast to my black & white photographic works. Also, its the best of you have such a lovely booth neighbor, it makes everything so much more fun. Vis-à-vis a gallery from Milano named “Passepartout Unconventional Gallery” had their booth with interesting artists visiting all the time. As a whole there was a good mixture of paintings and sculptures and some photographic works of different styles. But of course, you need to see for yourself, so here we go with many pictures of the art show and Paris!
